Our Synthetix SNX staking integration facilitates staking via the 420 pool on Synthetix. Upon staking, users start earning rewards immediately, however their newly created position enters a mandatory 7-day lockup period during which the position can not be exited. To unstake, the position must be at least 7 days old and after performing the unstake action there is a 1-day cooldown before users can withdraw your tokens.

Staking Rewards

The rewards earned through staking are a part of the Synthetix's Simple Staking program which is distributing 5 million SNX over a 12-month period. Rewards earned from Simple Staking will be distributed to users 12 months after the completion of the program (May 27th, 2026).

If a user exits the staking position early, penalties apply only to earned rewards, not the principal amount. The penalty begins at 100% at the start (immediately after the lockup period concludes) and reduces linearly to 0% by the end of the 12-month duration.

• For example: exiting at 3 months (25% through) results in a 75% penalty on accrued rewards, while exiting at 9 months (75% through) incurs a 25% penalty. The user's principal SNX can always be withdrawn without penalty after the initial 7-day cooldown.
  • Example of unstaking after 3 months (25% through) with the average 50% staking APR
    • Rewards earned: 12.5 SNX
    • Penalty: 75% → 9.38 SNX forfeited
    • Net rewards: 3.13 SNX
    • Total received: 100 SNX + 3.13 SNX = 103.13 SNX

Pending Actions

Claim Unstaked

After the 1-day cooldown period has passed, users will need to use the CLAIM_UNSTAKED pending actions from their unstaked balance to make it available again. You can track both this unstaking progress as well as the balance available to be withdrawn via our /stake/balances endpoint.

Considerations

1. Initial Lockup: After staking, the SNX tokens enter a 7-day lockup period. During this time, unstaking isn't possible, but rewards are being earned.
2. Multiple Entries: If a user stakes multiple times, each deposit creates a separate staking position, each with its own independent lockup timeline.
3. Full Unstaking Only: When unstaking, you must withdraw the entire balance of each staking position — partial unstaking is not supported.
4. Staking Rewards: 5 million SNX will be distributed via the Synthetix Simple Staking program over 12 months, ending May 27th, 2026. Rewards unlock fully after the program ends. Early withdrawal incurs penalties on earned rewards only (principal unaffected), decreasing linearly from 100% immediately post-lockup to 0% after one year.
