Compliant Staking
Enabling compliance through our geo-blocking feature
The StakeKit API allows your product to remain at the forefront of innovation, while adhering to global compliance standards. The regulatory landscape for cryptocurrencies is dynamic and ever-evolving, and StakeKit is committed to staying up to date with the latest regulations to ensure our geo-blocking feature is as comprehensive as possible.
Geo-blocking serves as a protective mechanism and allows selective restriction to the functionalities of the StakeKit API, through the blocking of certain countries and regions based upon regulations and affiliations.
The countries on our geo-blocked list fall under three categories, including countries that have an official crypto ban, OFAC-sanctioned countries, and OFSI-sanctioned countries.
- Official Crypto Ban: Some governments have taken firm positions on cryptocurrency and staking. To accommodate this, our API empowers you to block interactions originating from countries that have expressly prohibited crypto or staking activities.
- OFAC: The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy. By geo-blocking interactions from OFAC-sanctioned countries, you uphold international compliance standards and contribute to the prevention of prohibited activities.
- OFSI: The term "OFSI" refers to the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, a U.K. government body responsible for implementing and enforcing financial sanctions. Our geo-blocking features allow you to stay in sync with OFSI's directives by restricting access from countries subject to their sanctions.
Customizable compliance for precise control
Compliance needs can vary based on business and marketing considerations, and therefore our API does allow a tailored approach to geo-blocking through offering a range of configuration options to meet specific needs.
Upon enabling "Compliant Mode," access will be disabled for all countries encompassing the aforementioned categories. However, recognizing the need for nuanced control, our API also empowers you to fine-tune these settings.
In addition, our geo-blocking feature also has the option to flag specific U.S. states with pending crypto-related litigation. You can proactively block interactions from these states, mirroring practices adopted by industry leaders like Coinbase.
